Adding a new page to a Web site

You can add a new Web page to a Web site first by adding a page icon to the navigation of the site in Web Site Navigation, then by creating a Web page and associating it with the page icon.

Create a Web project.

To add a new page to a Web site:

1. To open Web Site Navigation, expand your Web project in the Enterprise Explorer view and double-click

   Web Site Navigation.

2. Decide where the Web page you are adding fits in the Web site's organization.

3. Right-click where you want to attach the new page, either on an existing page icon or anywhere in the Navigation view and select

   Add | New Page.

   1. If you want to attach the new page as a sibling of the existing page icon that is presented prior to the existing page in the navigation hierarchy, select Before. Your navigation structure will look similar to the following illustration:

      

   2. If you want to attach the new page as a sibling of the existing page icon that is presented after the existing page in the navigation hierarchy, select After. Your navigation structure will look similar to the following illustration:

      

   3. If you want to attach the new page as a child of the existing page icon, select As Child. Your navigation structure will look similar to the following illustration:

      

   4. If you do not want to attach the new page to an existing page icon, or if this is the first page that you are adding to Web Site Navigation, select As Top. If you are adding the new page to a navigation structure that has existing pages, it will look similar to the following illustration:

      If you are adding the first page to the navigation structure, it will look similar to the following illustration:

      

4. Type a navigation label for the Web page. The navigation title is used as the page label for site navigation purposes. For example while the title of the home page for your Web site might be the name of your company you may want the navigation label for that site to display Home.

5. Once you have added the page icon to the navigation structure, you can:

   • Create a Web page.

   • Associate a Web page with a page icon.

   Tip: You can also add a new page to your Web site by dragging the

   New Page icon from the Site drawer of the Palette to the place that you want to add the new page.
