Adding snippets in the Quick Edit view
When you use the Quick Edit view to add scripted events to a tag, you have the option of adding pre-coded scripts from code snippets that you can select from a list. For example, you can select a snippet to display a message.
After you have selected a tag in a JSP or HTML file and selected an event in the Quick Edit event list pane, follow these steps to add the script for a snippet into the Quick Edit script editor:
- Click the menu icon (
)
in the Quick Edit toolbar and choose
Insert Snippet. A list of possible snippets opens.
- Click one of the snippets in the list.
- If a dialog box opens, enter the requested values for any variables
for the chosen snippet. Click the appropriate cell in the
Values column of the Variables table and type the value. For example, if your snippet involves displaying a message, enter the text for the message. For other snippets, no dialog box appears and you can go to the next step.
- Click another tag or event to edit another event.
As an alternative to Quick Edit snippets (formerly called simple actions), you can also select snippets from the Snippets view. Quick Edit snippets are similar to Snippets view snippets; however, the list of Quick Edit snippets changes based on the events.
