For Files and Wikis users
Users should know the following when using Files or Wikis features with JAWS:
- When using Files with the JAWS screen reader turn off the JAWS Virtual PC cursor mode. The Files architecture uses Dojo components that perform incremental rendering. This is implemented through full AJAX mode with an ARIA role that automatically turns the JAWS Virtual PC cursor mode off in Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7. On other browsers, users must manually turn virtual PC cursor mode off by pressing Insert+Z.
When using Wikis with the JAWS screenreader turn off the JAWS Virtual PC cursor mode.
The Wikis architecture uses Dojo components that perform incremental rendering. This is implemented through full AJAX mode with an ARIA role that automatically turns the JAWS virtual PC cursor mode OFF in Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7. On other browsers, users must manually turn virtual PC cursor mode OFF (press Insert+Z). There is one exception: switch the mode on again in the Wiki editor toolbar (by pressing Insert+Z). This will provide the best accessibility user experience in Wikis.
The wiki editor has two dialogs that contain tabs: an Insert Flash dialog and a Find and Replace dialog. To access the tabs with the keyboard, click Alt+F10.
You must use the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate through pages in the navigation tree (in the upper left when a wiki is open). Use the Right arrow key to expand the tree, and the Left arrow key to collapse the tree.
