IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Application Diagnostics, Version 7.1.0.1
Prepare an existing DB2 environment
Perform the following procedure if you want to use an existing local or remote DB2 environment with the Managing Server.
If the DB2 RDBMS server is remote (that is, not the host on which the Managing Server will be running), perform the following tasks:
- On the host where the Managing Server will be running, install the DB2 Client Application Enabler. See Install the DB2 Client Application Enabler with a remote Relational Database Management System.
- On the RDBMS host, create the Managing Server database. See Prepare the remote DB2 for use with the Managing Server.
The following steps apply whether the RDBMS is running on the same host as the Managing Server or on a different host:
- If you are planning to use the JDBC Type 2 driver, prepare RDBMS connectivity for it; see Prepare connectivity for the DB2 client with a JDBC Type 2 driver. You do not need to do this if you will be using the JDBC type 4 driver (which is the default setting).
- Tune the DB2 environment. See Tune the DB2 environment.
- Install the DB2 Client Application Enabler with a remote Relational Database Management System
- Prepare the remote DB2 for use with the Managing Server
- Prepare connectivity for the DB2 client with a JDBC Type 2 driver
- Tune the DB2 environment
