Create additional instances of Managing Server components - UNIX

By default, the Managing Server has the following runtime instances. There is a properties file for each of them.

Default Managing Server runtime instances

Component ID Component instance Properties file name
kl1 The first instance of the Kernel kl1.properties
ps1 The first instance of the Publish Server ps1.properties
ps2 The second instance of the Publish Server ps2.properties
aa1 The first instance of the Archive Agent aa1.properties
aa2 The second instance of the Archive Agent aa2.properties
md The one instance of the Message Dispatcher md.properties
pa The one instance of the Polling Agent pa.properties
sam1 The one instance of the Global Publish Server sam1.properties

You may create additional instances of the Kernel, Publish Server, or Archive Agent.

For the Publish Server and Archive Agent, each instance must have its own properties file. The simplest way to create another instance of one of these components is to run the product-provided scripts. They make copies of existing properties files and modify the component IDs and the port numbers to unique values. The scripts also add values to particular files that require the parameters to be set in order for the additional instances to run properly, for example, to the start and stop scripts.

You cannot create additional instances for any of the other components listed in Table 1.
