IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Application Diagnostics, Version 7.1.0.1

Create the installation user

You can use the already created Administrator user as the user for performing the installation or you can create a new user. You must log in as this user to install a Managing Server.

If you are using a remote DB2 or Oracle environment, the same user must exist or be created on the computer where the DB2 or Oracle is installed.

To create the installation user and the corresponding directory structure:

  1. Log in as Administrator.

  2. Create the installation user (for example, amuser) and assign a password.

Windows XP Start > Control Panel > User Accounts
    Windows 2000 Server
    Windows 2003 Server
    Windows 2008
Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Local Users and Groups > Users

You can also use Administrator instead of creating a new user.

  3. Create the permissions for the user.

The user name cannot include the string ibm. For example, ibmuser.

The user must have membership in the Administrators group the privileges...

    • Act as part of the Operating System
    • Log on as a Service

To verify or add these permissions:

    1. Choose one of the following options:

Windows XP Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment
      Windows 2000 Server
      Windows 2003 Server
      Windows 2008
Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment

    2. Add the user to these properties.

Adding the Administrators group to these properties is not enough to ensure the proper permissions. Make sure that this particular user gets added to these properties.

  4. If you are performing an upgrade of the Managing Server, this installation user must have read/write privileges to the home directory for the previous version of ITCAM for Application Diagnostics.

  5. If you chose to use Administrator as the installation user, log out of the system and log in again, or reboot your system.
