Search service repositories

Service repositories are repositories that are at IBM.com and that contain product updates. Each IBM product includes links to service repositories that are specific to the product. IBM Installation Manager searches both the service repositories and the repositories listed in the repository table of the repository preferences window. We cannot see or modify the service repository links. When the preference Search service repositories during installation and updates is checked, Installation Manager accesses IBM.com and searches for available updates for installed products. This preference is selected by default.

If a computer does not have access to IBM.com or we do not want the computer to access IBM.com, clear Search service repositories during installation and updates. When this option is checked, the Install, Modify, and Update wizards try to access the service repositories. If a connection is not made, Installation Manager times out and then tries to reconnect before starting the installation, update, or modify. Check the preference Search service repositories during installation and updates to search the service repositories for updates to installed packages. To set this preference in Installation Manager, go to File > Preferences > Repositories. On the OS X, the Preferences option is under the IBM Installation Manager menu. Updates from service repositories do not display in the repository table. For example, updates are available from the service repositories for an IBM product that we installed. You checked Search service repositories during installation and updates. You open the repository table. The updates from the service repositories do not display. However, the updates from service repositories do display when we click Install, Modify, or Update in Installation Manager.
