Updates preference
IBM Installation Manager can search packages we are installing, modifying, or updating for newer versions of Installation Manager that might be included with the package installation files. This preference is cleared by default.
When the IBM product we are installing requires a newer version of Installation Manager, we must update Installation Manager. When a newer version is required, we are prompted to update Installation Manager even if Search for Installation Manager updates is cleared. When the installed version is newer than the version included with the IBM product, Installation Manager remains at the current version. Installation Manager is compatible with earlier versions.
The preferences Search service repositories during installation and updates and Search for Installation Manager updates determine the updates that are searched for by Installation Manager. For information about how these preferences work together, see Search for updates in wizard mode. For information about Search service repositories during installation and updates, see Repository preferences.
Procedure
To set this preference:
- Click File > Preferences > Updates. On the OS X, the Preferences option is under the IBM Installation Manager menu.
- Select the Search for Installation Manager updates option. When we install, modify or update a package, Installation Manager searches the package installation files for updates to itself.
- Click OK.
What to do next
To download and install a more recent version of Installation Manager now instead of waiting for a package to include a more recent version of Installation Manager, see Update Installation Manager using wizard mode.
