Tuning the REST service endpoint for the Human Task Management widgets
By default, Process Portal spaces are configured for federated domains. However, federation domains increase the load on the system and you might experience performance degradation when using the Human Task Management widgets. In addition, the widgets do not support paging in lists; scrolling is used instead with a default of 50 items in the list.
The REST service endpoints determine the resources that can be accessed. If Process Portal spaces are configured for federated domains, the Human Tasks Management widgets provide business users with a single user interface for interacting with processes and tasks from both Integration Designer and Process Designer. However, if you work with only BPDs or BPEL processes and tasks, ensure that the REST service endpoint setting corresponds to your system environment.
Procedure
- Check that the settings of the REST service endpoint correspond to your system environment.
- Start the administrative console.
- Depending on your environment, use one of the following paths.
- For servers: Click Servers > Server Types > WebSphere application servers > server_name > Business Integration > Business Space Configuration > REST service endpoint registration.
- For clusters: Click Servers > Clusters > WebSphere application server clusters > cluster_name > Business Integration > Business Space Configuration > REST service endpoint registration.
The REST service endpoints for the process and task services have one of the following settings:
- Federated REST Services
- These services interact with domains of federated systems. A federation domain can access resources from multiple systems, or from multiple process servers running either BPDs or BPEL processes.
- Business Process Choreographer REST services
- These services interact with BPEL processes and human tasks authored in Integration Designer.
- BPD engine REST services
- These services interact with BPD processes and human services authored in Process Designer.
- Optional: Change service endpoint target of both the process services and the task services types to the target that best fits your system environment.
Tip: To use only BPD processes and human services on a single application server or cluster, change the service endpoint targets for both the process and task services to BPD engine REST services.
