Replacing a generated monitor model with a new monitor model

If you want to replace an existing generated monitor model on the Process Center server with a new model, you must disable business monitoring support in the process application, make any necessary changes to your process application, and then re-enable business monitoring support.

Before you can replace the existing business monitor model for a process application, verify that there is an active monitor model on the server.

On the Process Center server, this sequence of activities removes the original monitor model, purges all monitored data, creates a new model with the same ID, and then deploys that model. You might want to replace your monitor model version if you are working in an iterative development environment and want to remove unused versions of a monitor model or if you want to purge data from previous test runs.

You cannot use this procedure to replace monitor models that have been deployed on a production or test process server. In this situation, the IBM Business Monitor system administrator must first undeploy all model versions on that server using the WebSphere Application Server administrative console (see the "Removing monitor models and data" link at the bottom of this topic). Next, take a new snapshot of the process application and deploy it on the process server.

If you want to regenerate your monitor model to capture changes to the process application but do not want to preserve any earlier versions of the monitor model or its data...

Procedure

  1. Log in to IBM Process Designer.
  2. Open the process application you want to monitor by clicking Open in Designer.
  3. Clear the Enable process monitoring through IBM Business Monitor option and save your changes.

  4. Click File > Update Tracking Definitions. This action removes all versions of the existing monitor model associated with the process application and purges all monitored data.
  5. Make the necessary updates in your process application and save your changes.

  6. From the Process Apps Settings page, select the Enable process monitoring through IBM Business Monitor option.

  7. Click File > Update Tracking Definitions to enable business monitoring and Business Performance Data Warehouse monitoring. The new monitor model is generated and deployed.

What to do next

Run some processes, and then log in to Business Space and use the custom dashboard to view the renewed collection of monitoring data for the process application.
