Migrating databases
In some scenarios, databases configured for a stand-alone environment are automatically updated as part of starting the server. In other scenarios, they must be upgraded manually.
Databases configured for a stand-alone environment are automatically updated as part of starting the server if the following conditions are met:
- Common database: The database user configured for the common database has the needed permissions.
- Business Process Choreographer: The environment is using the default table spaces for the Business Process Choreographer database. If the standalone environment was created with the sample Business Process Choreographer configuration, or if all of the database objects in the default table spaces specified in the sample SQL scripts have been created, the database uses the default table spaces. This is typically the case for a test environment.
Furthermore, the database user that is configured for the BPEDB data source must be authorized to perform all of the following operations:
- Create and alter tables
- Create and drop indexes and views
- Query, update, delete, and insert (for the table SCHEMA_VERSION)
Refer to Databases for the database permissions needed to perform schema upgrades.
The Common Event Infrastructure database and Messaging Engine database are automatically migrated by the runtime migration procedure when the profiles are migrated. See Databases.
To upgrade product databases that are not updated automatically, follow the Manually upgrading the product databases procedure.
- Migrating the Common database
Use this procedure to upgrade the Common database schema.- Migrating the Business Process Choreographer database
Use this procedure to upgrade the Business Process Choreographer database schema.- Migrating the Business Space database
Use this procedure to upgrade the Business Space database schema.- Manually upgrading the product databases
Use this procedure to upgrade the product databases or product database schema if they are not updated automatically as part of starting the server.- Migrating the Business Space database data (V6.x)
After manually upgrading the product databases (which upgrades the Business Space database schema), you must migrate the Business Space database data.- Migrating the Business Space V7.0.x database and data
If you are migrating from V7.0.x, additional steps are required to migrate the Business Space database schema and data to V8.0.1.
