Use the Installer or Profile Management Tool to configure Business Process Choreographer

There are several ways to create a non-production Business Process Choreographer configuration.

You have completed t1pl_topology_wizard.html and you have decided which flavor of non-production system you want, as summarized in t1pl_topology.html#t1pl_topology__decide.

Procedure

If you are not going to use the Installer to install DB2 Express, create a suitable database for the common (CMNDB) database manually. For non-production configurations, the common database is used for the Business Process Choreographer tables. Keep the following in mind:

    • The database must be created with a page size of at least 8k.

      For example, the CREATE DATABASE statement could include the option PAGESIZE 8 K;

    • Normally, the tables required by Business Process Choreographer are created when the server is started and it finds that the tables do not exist.

If you want to create the tables manually in the common database, do so before starting the server. Also use the hardcoded schema name BPEDB, otherwise the corresponding datasource jdbc/BPEDB will not be able to connect to the database.

    • If you want the tables required by Business Process Choreographer to reside in the common database, create them manually using the hardcoded schema name BPEDB, otherwise the corresponding datasource jdbc/BPEDB will not be able to connect to the database.

  1. To create the "Basic sample" configuration using PMT.

    1. Start pmt.sh.
    2. Either create a new profile, or where applicable, augment an existing stand-alone profile.

    3. Select one of the following:

      • IBM BPM Advanced: Process Center
      • IBM BPM Advanced, Process Center stand-alone profile
      • IBM BPM Advanced: Process Server
      • IBM BPM Advanced, Process Server stand-alone profile

    4. If are using DB2, you can select either Typical profile creation or Advanced profile creation.

    5. If are not using DB2, select Advanced profile creation.

  2. If you want to create the "Basic sample" configuration using the Installer.

    1. Using the process server DVD or an image of it, start the launchpad.

    2. Select Typical install.

    3. If you have not already installed DB2, select the option to install DB2 express.

    4. Select Stand-alone development IBM BPM Advanced - Process Server (qbpmaps).

  3. If you want to create the "Sample with organization" configuration.

    1. Using the process server DVD or an image of it, start the launchpad.

    2. Select Custom install.

    3. Install DB2 Express.

    4. Select Stand-alone development IBM BPM Advanced - Process Server (qbpmaps).

  4. Optional: Perform Verifying that Business Process Choreographer works.

  5. If you want to change the JMS authentication user IDs, the run-as user IDs, or the mappings of roles onto users and groups, using the administrative console, click Security > Business Integration security to change the security settings.

  6. Optional: Update your virtual host configuration. By default, the web modules of the Business Process Choreographer applications are configured for the default_host virtual host. Verify that the ports associated with the host alias are correct. You might need to add host aliases for the host names and ports of additional cluster members or for the web server that is used. For more details about virtual hosts, refer to Virtual hosts.

  7. Optional: Use the administrative console to change settings for the Human Task Manager:

    • If you want to change any of the Human Task Manager settings for the escalation emails, such as the sender address or the URL prefix for the Business Process Choreographer Explorer, click either Servers > Clusters > WebSphere application server clusters > cluster_name or Servers > Server Types > WebSphere application servers > server_name, then on the Configuration tab, in the Business Integration section, expand Business Process Choreographer, and click Human Task Manager, and make your changes.

    • If you want to change the email server address, port number, the user ID, or password for the email server, click Resources > Mail > Mail sessions, select Cell scope, then click HTM mail session_ suffix, where suffix is either node_name_ server_name or cluster_name, depending on where Business Process Choreographer is configured. Make your changes.

  8. Depending on the type of people directory provider that you use for people assignment, you might need to configure it:

  9. If you configured VMM, and you want to use people substitution, perform Configure people substitution.

  10. If you want to use group work items, use the administrative console to enable them. Click either Servers > Clusters > WebSphere application server clusters > cluster_name or Servers > Server Types > WebSphere application servers > server_name, then on the Configuration tab, in the Business Integration section, expand Business Process Choreographer, and click Human Task Manager, then select Enable group work items.
  11. If you want to configure a remote Business Process Choreographer client that uses the Process Server client, perform, Configure a remote client application.
