Work with process instances
From the Process Inspector, you can view a summary of information about multiple process instances, view detailed information about individual process instances, and take certain immediate actions on the process instances that are displayed, to quickly investigate and resolve problems
Use the Process Inspector
The Process Inspector provides information about events and processes across your entire system—including information about such things as general metadata, current activities, timers, message events, orphaned tokens, and the status of tasks. In addition to viewing the detailed activity information about process instances, you can also interactively perform certain troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
For example, from the Process Inspector display, you can delete a process instance, or restart a group of failed process instances.
Only the task owner or member of the group that claimed the task can view and modify task data.
- Viewing process instance details
When you click a process instance in the Process Inspector, specific details are displayed in a separate panel. You can view detailed information about one specific process instance or view a summary of information about an entire group that you select.- Viewing activity details
Open a task activity directly from the process instance information to view specific activity details in a separate panel. Activity details include status, assignee, and the business process tokens.- Troubleshooting errors and failures in a failed process instance
Using the Process Inspector, you can take corrective actions on process instance errors one at a time or in bulk across multiple locations. In most cases, you can either try to run the process again, edit data and then try again, or skip a failed step. The best method to use depends on the nature of the failure.- Process Inspector actions
Process Inspector provides actions to recover failed process instances.
