Start and stop servers
Use the administrative interfaces to create, start, and stop servers. Servers extend the ability of application servers, allowing them to handle Service Component Architecture modules. Other server processes, such as dmgrs and node agents, can be used to manage servers.
Servers must be running before you can start applications on them. The methods for starting a server vary and depend on whether you are starting a stand-alone server or a managed server. With managed servers, the node agent must be running before you can start the servers.
You can start managed servers from the administrative console of the dmgr. If you have deployment environments or clusters, you can start or stop all of the servers in one action, from the administrative console of the dmgr.
- Starting stand-alone servers
Start a stand-alone application server in order to run the administrative console and any applications on the server.- Stopping stand-alone servers
Stop a stand-alone server before modifying certain configurations for the server or the modules deployed on it.- Starting managed servers
Start the application server process in order to run applications on the managed server.- Stopping managed servers
Stop the server before modifying certain configurations for the server or the modules deployed on it. If that you can stop a single server in a cluster.
