Configure the available views and actions for the Inbox widget

You can configure the Inbox widget so that the users who work with the widget see only those views and actions that are valid for the work that they do.

For example, you can configure the widget so that a user can see all their assigned work.

You must be the page owner or an editor of the page to configure this widget.

The selections that you make on the User Interaction tab determine the views, the entries in the Actions list, and the inline actions that are available for each of the items in a list.

Attention: Depending on how your system environment is configured, some of the views and actions that you select here might not be available to the users of this widget.

Procedure

  1. Open the widget menu and select Edit Settings to see the configuration tabs.

  2. Select the User Interaction tab, and on the Views pane, specify the views that are available to the users of the widget.
The views enable users to filter the items that they see in the widget. The following table describes how tasks and work items are filtered depending on the view.

How the views filter the tasks and work items
View How tasks are filtered How work items are filtered
My work Displays tasks that are assigned to the user. Displays work items that are in the user's personal inbox.
Unassigned work Displays all the tasks that are not yet assigned to anyone. Displays all the work items in the role queue that are not yet locked by anyone.
Items I created Displays the tasks that I created. These tasks can be drafted tasks or tasks in progress. Not supported.
Unassigned and my work Displays both the user's assigned tasks and all the unassigned tasks. Displays both the work items in the user's personal inbox and the unassigned items in the role queue.
All items Displays all the tasks that the user can access. Displays all the work items in the personal inbox and the role queue regardless of the lock status.
My team's work Displays the tasks that the user can manage, for example, change the owner of a task. Not supported.
Postponed items Displays the user's list of pending tasks. Not supported.
Click Set as Default to make the selected view the default view for the widget.

  3. On the Actions pane, select the actions that are available, and the order in which they appear in the Actions list. You can also create custom actions that are specific to your business environment to add to the Actions list.

Attention: For IBM Case Manager work items, only the Edit and Transfer actions are supported as described in the following table.

  4. Click OK to save the configuration changes.

What to do next

For custom actions, wire the ActionRequested event for the action to the widget that the action triggers.
