Before you begin
Create diagnostic system modules
To configure a diagnostic system module:

- If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
- In the left pane, expand Diagnostics and select Diagnostic Modules.
- On the Summary of Diagnostic Modules page, click the name of the module whose configuration you want to edit.
- On the Settings for [Module Name] page, set configuration options for the module:
- To configure metrics, select the Configuration > Collected Metrics. For more instructions, see Configure metric collection for a diagnostic system module
- To configure watches and notifications, select Configuration > Watches and Notifications. For more instructions, see Configure watches and notifications
- To configure instrumentation, select Configuration > Instrumentation tab. For more instructions, see Configure instrumentation for a diagnostic system module
- To target the module to a server or cluster, select Targets on the Settings for [Module Name] page. For more instructions, see Target and untarget diagnostic system modules .
- To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
