Using the help system

This software provides interactive assistance to help learn about the tools and complete tasks successfully. You can find most forms of assistance on the Help menu.

In translated versions of Rational Performance Tester, some help topics may display only in English.

Product help

Topics can help you understand how to use RPTv8 to complete tasks. Topics also include links to related information. Click the tabs at the bottom of the navigation pane of the Help window.

Index

: Type words in the type-ahead field to look them up in the index.

To see the topic, click Display or click an index entry in the list.

Search

: Type words in the Search field, with double quotation marks for exact searches, asterisk (*) or question mark (?) wild cards, or Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT). In some browsers, you can also narrow search scope and save search lists. To limit the scope of search in the Eclipse Help System:

  1. At the top of the Help window, click the Search scope link.

  2. In the Select Search Scope window, click New.

  3. In the New Search List window, type a descriptive name for the search list in the List name field. For example, type performance.

  4. Under Topics to search, select the sections to search and click OK. The Select Search Scope window displays search list.

  5. Click Search only the following topics, click the search list, and then click OK. Your searches are now specific to sections you selected for search list.

: When you find a topic with the index or search, you can click

to see its context in the navigation tree.

Keyboard navigation: For keyboard shortcuts, look up Accessibility in the help.

Bookmarks

: You can bookmark favorite topics while browsing.

Other languages: Change browser regional settings to the locale and language you want. Topics that are not available in that language are displayed in English.

Dynamic help for Eclipse in non-Web or Information Center environments

Click the dialog box or view to learn about, and press F1 or the question mark

for contextual help. Below the help are dynamic search results that relate to current context and settings.
