Migrate to a new release of Rational Performance Tester

Tests and schedules are migrated automatically when you modify and save them. Reports are migrated when you click Restore Defaults in the report preferences.

You cannot have both Rational Performance Tester and Rational Service Tester for SOA Quality, or two versions of these products, installed at one time.

Before you install a new version, uninstall the previous version of RPTv8. If you are updating RPTv8 using Installation Manager, you do not need to uninstall the previous version.

Uninstalling a previous version does not delete test assets.

When you open a project containing an older test asset, the following message is displayed:

Typically, you upgrade tests and schedules.

The Asset dependencies builder window is not displayed unless an older test asset is visible in the Test Navigator view.

To upgrade older test assets to the latest version, open the projects containing those assets in the Test Navigator view. Double-click the project folder to open the project.

If you leave tests and schedules unchanged, they will not have the new functionality added in the current release. You can always save a modified test or schedule under a new name, which preserves the older asset. You can identify an older asset by its version, which is listed in brackets:

Although a new release might include enhancements to the default reports, these enhancements are not automatically applied. This is to preserve any customizations that you have made to these reports.
