Defining a screen reader for the help system

Users with special needs might want to access the online help topics in a screen reader instead of in the embedded help system. You can set the online help to open in a screen reader by default.

To define a screen reader for the help system:

  1. Click Window > Preferences > Help.

  2. On the Help preferences page, select the Always use external browsers check box.

  3. Click Custom browser.

  4. In the Custom Browser command field, specify the executable file for the screen reader executable.

    For example, to use IBM Home Page Reader, specify C:\Program Files\IBM\IBM Home Page Reader 3.04\hpr.exe.

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Click Help > Help Contents.

ResultsThe online help system opens in the desired screen reader.
