Add UNIX rstatd sources

Overview

UNIX rstatd is bundled with most Linux distributions.

To capture resource monitoring data from UNIX rstatd, configure the data source.

The portmapper service must be enabled on the host computer. To verify enablement, run...

...and look for the portmapper service in the output...

Configure the UNIX rstatd data source

  1. On the Resource page, select the type of data to capture.

The tree view shows all available performance counters, with a default set of counters preselected.

To see all available counters, clear the check box...

      Show only selected counters

Be selective; monitoring all possible resource data requires substantial amounts of memory. Hold your mouse pointer over a counter to see details about what that counter measures.

  2. Configure connection information and time intervals on the Options page.

    1. Change the Connection information if needed.

Typically, you need to change this information only if a firewall is blocking the default port.

    2. Type the Polling Interval in seconds, for collecting resource data.

For example, if you accept the default of 5 seconds, counter information will be collected at 5-second intervals from the specified host during the schedule run.

    3. Type the Timeout Interval in seconds.

If the resource monitoring host does not respond within this amount of time during a schedule run, an error is logged.
