The version strategy defines the policy used to version a given item.

The Global version strategy for each item type is defined in the WCM Config properties. For templated items such as Content, the items template can also override the configured value.

Note that workflowed items in draft state are never versioned so the version strategy does not directly apply.

Enum Constant Summary

AUTOMATIC           A version is saved each time you save an item, or if the item is participating in a workflow, each time the item's state changes to published.

MANUAL           By default no version are created.

NEVER           Versions are never created for this item

Enum Constant Detail

MANUAL

public static final VersionStrategy MANUAL

By default no version are created. Users with editor access or higher can manually save versions of published items. Also items participating in a workflow can have a version created through a Version Action

AUTOMATIC

public static final VersionStrategy AUTOMATIC

A version is saved each time you save an item, or if the item is participating in a workflow, each time the item's state changes to published.

NEVER

public static final VersionStrategy NEVER

Versions are never created for this item

values

public static VersionStrategy[] values()

Returns an array containing the constants of this enum type, in the order they are declared. This method may be used to iterate over the constants as follows:

for (VersionStrategy c : VersionStrategy.values())
    System.out.println(c);

Returns:

an array containing the constants of this enum type, in the order they are declared

valueOf

public static VersionStrategy valueOf(java.lang.String name)

Returns the enum constant of this type with the specified name. The string must match exactly an identifier used to declare an enum constant in this type. (Extraneous whitespace characters are not permitted.)

Parameters:

name - the name of the enum constant to be returned.

Returns:

the enum constant with the specified name

Throws:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException - if this enum type has no constant with the specified name

java.lang.NullPointerException - if the argument is null
