Installation options

The bit architecture of the WebSphere Portal installation program will follow the bit architecture of the Operating System or if portal is being installed into an existing supported IBM WAS, the installation will follow the bit architecture of the WAS. For example, if you are installing onto a 64-bit Linux, portal will install as a 64-bit version. You can force a 32-bit application installation onto a 64-bit OS

Base Deploy a base set of portal features. Selectively enable additional features, samples, and developed content after installation to create a deployment that meets business needs.
Full Deploy the full set of portal features and samples that are available for offering. Use and test a wide range of features or to develop a proof-of-concept deployment.

If you run into issues installing WAS at the same time as portal, consider installing WAS by itself, and then install Portal.

WebSphere Portal provides a lite-mode which can improve portal start up time and reduce memory consumption in production environments
