Configure the Search and Browse portlet to search for Web content

You can use the Search and Browse portlet to search for Web content by adding a Web content search collection to the configuration of a new Search and Browse portlet.

  1. Go to Administration > Portlet Management > Portlets.

  2. Make a copy of the Search and Browse portlet.

  3. Open the configuration view of the new portlet.

  4. Edit the Collection Location parameter and enter the path to your Web content search collection. Tip: The path to the collection can be obtained by copying the "Search collection location" from the "Search collection status information" of your Web content search collection.

  5. To render the search results in a rendering portlet, edit the OPEN_WCM_WINDOW parameter to map to an existing portal page that contains the rendering portlet:

    • /[Portal context path]/[Portal URL Mapping to Portal Page]?WCM_GLOBAL_CONTEXT=

A URL map to the portal page that contains the rendering portlet is required.

The portal context path will be different depending on whether you are allowing anonymous or authenticated access.

For example, in a standard installation the portal context path for anonymous access is /wps/portal/, whereas the path for authenticated access is /wps/myportal/.

  6. Save the configuration changes to the portlet.
