Edit application properties

Each application property -- application name, category, description, friendly URL, backup option, and owner -- describes a basic element of the composite application. Use the Properties portlet to edit application properties. When you edit the properties of an application, you change only the properties of that particular application; the template is not affected.

You must be assigned an application role that permits you to edit the application.

To edit application properties...

  1. Click Edit to display the application properties in edit mode.

  2. Edit the properties as needed.

    Application name

    The name of the application.

Valid values: Any alphanumeric characters including special characters.

The name cannot include leading or trailing spaces and cannot exceed 126 characters.

    Category

The type of application. The default category is Root application folder.

Initially, the category shown is the one provided by the application template.

You can change the category of the application by selecting another category from the list.

    Description

    Text that describes the application.

Valid values: Any alphanumeric characters including special characters.

The description cannot include leading or trailing spaces and cannot exceed 256 characters.

    Friendly URL

Text that provides a top-level page label for the application that is concise and easy to read and remember.

The friendly URL can contain the alphabetic characters A through Z, a through z, and any of the following special characters: . ~ - _ .

Application Backup for Archiving and Restore

Provides choices for allowing the application to be backed up:

    • Disable Backup

    • Enable Backup

    Owner

The user ID of the person who created the application.

Only the current application owner or administrator can edit this field.

If you are the owner of the application or an administrator, you can delegate ownership to another user who has permission to create applications. Permission to create applications is granted by user role, which is assigned by Resource Permissions. Users who create applications become application owners.

Click Change Owner to find and select the name you want using the Directory Search window.

Valid values: Any name found using the Directory Search window.

Titles and descriptions for other languages

Click the link to specify the application title and description in different languages.

  3. Click OK to save your changes.

  4. Click Done to return to the application page.
