Syndiated Feed Portlet: Configure cookies

Overview

To specify a set of cookies that should accompany an outbound portlet request for viewing the entire article available at the feed source, create a cookiesToForward configuration parameter

These cookies are applicable to all the feeds configured in the IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet. You can also specify a set of cookies specific to a feed.

To specify the cookies to be sent with an outbound portlet request to a feed source site:

Procedure

1. From the portal admin console, click Portlets under Portlet Management.

2. Search for the Syndicated Feed portlet entry.

3. Click the Configure portlet (wrench) icon corresponding to the Syndicated Feed Portlet.

4. Add the following configuration parameter to the existing list of configuration parameters for the Syndicated Feed Portlet.

   Parameter	Value
   cookiesToForward	Specify the HTTP cookies that should be sent from the outbound portlet request when connecting to the feed source from IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet. The cookies specified in this list are assumed to be applicable to all the feeds configured in IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet.

   To add this configuration parameter:

   1. Enter the parameter name in the New Preference text field.

   2. Enter the value of the parameter in the New value text field.

   3. Click Add.

   You don't need to restart the server after specifying the above configuration parameters.

You can specify the cookies to be passed specifically for a particular feed from within the portlet interface, when subscribing to a feed. See the inline help for WebSphere Portal for more details.

If you have specified cookies when adding feeds to the IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet, then the cookies specified as a value of the cookiesToForward configuration parameter are appended to the list of cookies specific to a feed when sending out the outbound portlet request.
