Enabling the update manager UI in IBM Lotus Notes 8 to develop or test directly against it

You can enable the update manager user interface (UI) in IBM® Lotus Notes® 8 to develop or test directly against it.
This is a developer configuration option that may change or be disabled or removed in future IBM Lotus Notes 8 releases.
Note: Use this option for development only if you are unable to use the Composite Application Editor to add your portlets to the palette directly from an update site. Refer to the IBM Lotus Notes 8 administration documentation for how to manage update sites. Change a setting to enable the Update UI: Edit the install_dir/framework/rcp/plugin_customization.ini file and add the following entry:
com.ibm.notes.branding/enable.update.ui=true

You can then browse to an XPD platform update site if you have one, install the JSP translation bridge, and install WebSphere Portal WABs directly from file or HTTP URL based update sites.
