Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2

Deploying IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory-built WABs directly to IBM Lotus Expeditor

During development, you may want to deploy a WebSphere Portlet Factory-built WAB, and the portlets within it directly to an IBM® Lotus® Expeditor client, for testing individual portlets, outside of a composite application. If you choose to do so, you may also want to enable a RCP launch menu item for the portlet(s) in the Portlet Adapter builder, in the Rich Client Platform input section of the builder, so that you have a way of launching an individual portlet in the rich client platform.

When you run the build action to create the WAB for your project then Eclipse/OSGi Feature for that WAB plugin, and an Eclipse/OSGi "Update Site" for that feature/plugin combination are also created.

To install this feature to your IBM Lotus Expeditor client, click on folder based update site in the File > Application > Install > Search for New Features dialog menu under Add Folder Location.

If you choose to package the update site into a WAR in your project properties for RCP menu, the folder based update site will also be packaged into a WAR file at the root of your project, which you may deploy to any J2EE appserver, to use as an http/url based Eclipse/OSGi update site for provisioning to IBM Lotus Expeditor/IBM Lotus Notes® 8.
