Profile edit and configure options

When specifying how to expose the profile sets in your model for edit/configure it is important to understand the terminology. This topic describes the supported portal types. For more details, you should consult your IBM® WebSphere® Portal documentation.

Configure

Changes made here affect all occurrences of the portlet on all pages for all users. In order for a user to have access to personalize settings, they must be granted at least Privileged User role on the page and Privileged User role on the corresponding Portlet Definition. This is available for JSR 168 compliant portlets and IBM portlets.

Edit Defaults

Changes made here affect a particular occurrence of a portlet on a page and apply to all users who view the portlet on that page. In order for a user to have access to edit shared settings they must be granted at least Editor role on the page and Editor role on the corresponding Portlet definition. A users Edit settings will override the Edit Default settings. This is available for JSR 168 compliant portlets and IBM portlets. This is also known as Edit Shared Settings.

Edit

Changes made here are associated with a single user and apply only to that particular user who views the portlet on the page. Only that user can make that update. In order for a user to have access to personalize settings, they must be granted at least Privileged User role on the page and Privileged User role on the corresponding Portlet Definition. This is available for JSR 168 compliant portlets and IBM portlets. This is also known as Personalize
