Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2

IBM WebSphere Portlet adapter

Websphere Portlet Adapter functions as the integration point between the IBM® WebSphere® Portal and the IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory web application development platform. Using the Portlet Adapter as an abstract portlet in the Portal Server, you can expose any WebSphere Portlet Factory model as a concrete portlet. Using the Portlet Adapter to create portlets adds the following benefits to the usual process of creating portlets for use with the WebSphere Portal Server:

Rapidly create portlets

With typical development tools, creating and making changes to a portlet requires a full Java class creation and deployment process (modifying Java source, compiling, or deploying a .war file, for example), just to be able to create or change a portlet. The Portlet Adapter eliminates this complexity. To create a new portlet you create a concrete instance of the Portlet Adapter, specifying the WebSphere Portlet Factory model you want to use as a portlet. All WebSphere Portlet Factory models are portlet-ready without adding code. As you make changes to the portlet's underlying model, those changes are picked up the next time you run the portal.

Maximize reuse of existing IT assets

WebSphere Portlet Factory's builders enable rapid integration of all current web applications and artifacts into dynamic WebSphere Portlet Factory models. Once you incorporate these assets into a model, they can exist as web services, web applications, portlets or linked models to other WebSphere Portlet Factory applications without coding or duplicating or versioning artifacts.

Create many portlets from one

You can create minor variations to existing portlets as well as major variations to create new adaptations of portlets, using WebSphere Portlet Factory profiles which eliminates additional development time, redeployment of .war files, publishing of HTML, JSP, and so on.
