About the Outline view

The Outline view displays the builder call list for the model that you selected in the edit area.

With icons in the view toolbar, you can readily generate the current model or add a builder call to the model. In the view toolbar, a pull-down menu provides commands to manage the builder call list. The Sort command lets you arrange the list display in various ways. The default is numerical order. You can also click the column titles to sort the builder call list. The Debug Inputs command displays arguments used for debugging, if the model has any. The Filter command provides options to include only certain builder calls in the list. This command is useful if you have a fairly large number of builder calls in the model.

The number sign (#) indicates the numeric order of the builder call list. The order of builder calls in the list is important because, if a builder call is dependent on another builder call later in the list, the call fails. You can drag and drop the builder calls in the list to reorder them. Disabled builder calls are greyed-out.

Under Name is the designation that you can enter as the Name input in the builder. If you do not enter a name, one is generated based on the page location or display as <No Name>. Under Type is the designation of the actual builder as selected in the Builder Picker. Another column indicates whether the builder call has an associated profile.

The last column contains an arrow icon for each listed builder call that lets you link to related elements in other views. Click this arrow to highlight related elements in the Application Tree and Pages views. This feature also displays and highlights code in the Source view and the related object in the Design view. If you set Link with WebApp Tree in the Outline view pull-down menu, the Application Tree view, Pages view, Source view, and Design view highlighting change each time you select a different builder call in the list. With the command set, the arrow icon does not appear in the column. The command is not set by default, because it adds performance overhead to the IBM® WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer.

The Outline view supports a popup menu that lets you manage a builder call in the list by selecting it and using the available commands (for example, cut, copy, and paste).
