Domino View & Form builder

Use the Domino View & Form builder to create an application that displays a view of Lotus Domino data, including options for category and search.

If you need to access Domino data through a Domino view only, it is simpler to use the Domino Data Access builder.

This builder has the following features:

  • Provides full create, read, update, and delete support for Domino documents.

  • Supports Domino forms, agents, and single Sign on (SSO) operations.

  • Allows you to include a category selector on the page with the view.

  • Supports full text search against the view. (This defaults to a lower-performance search if the database is not full-text indexed). The result set is returned in the display format of the selected view.

  • Allows you to access values from a Domino document by a helper method.

In addition to displaying a Domino view, this builder can read a Domino form and use information from that form to create the support for viewing, editing, and creating Notes documents. The builder generates pages with all the form fields laid out automatically. Alternately, you can provide your own custom HTML for a form to produce a unique look and feel.

To connect to the Domino server, provide a valid Domino server host name and a valid Domino Web user name and password. If the builder has these parameters, it can retrieve a list of all the databases on the server. From this list, you select a database and retrieve a list of available views. You can then choose a Domino view to display in the application.

Note: If you do not have access to browse the list of databases on the server, you can still enter the name of a database to which you have access directly into the Database Name input.

To access a Domino database through this builder, the connecting user must have IIOP (Internet Inter-Orb Protocol) access to the Domino server and ACL access permissions to the target database. In addition, the Domino server must be configured to allow HTTP browsing of databases so the builder can populate various select lists.

Be sure all Domino backend services are correctly installed and available for use.
