Development and Production WAR files

During the course of development, you will use WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer to create the functionality and WAR files that you can use for testing your application. You can then run WebSphere Portlet Factory's deployment scripts to create a WAR file that can be deployed to an application server.

WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer can generate WAR files for development testing. These files contain items not included (or desirable) in a production WAR file. For example, a WAR for development testing might contain some or all of the following:

/factopreview_webapp.jsp

Should not be on a production server

/factory/portletadapter/*

Not needed in production deployment WARs

/WEB-INF/bin/deployment/*/*

Not needed in production deployment WARs

/WEB-INF/clientlibs/*

Not needed in production deployment WARs

/WEB-INF/models/factory/adapters/*

Not needed in production deployment WARs
