Developing portlets with IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory

During the course of development, you will use the WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer to create the portlet functionality and run WebSphere Portlet Factory's deployment scripts to create a WAR file that contains the portlets you created. You then install the generated portlet WAR as a portlet application using the Websphere Portal Administration tools. In summary, developing IBM® WebSphere Application Server portlets with WebSphere Portlet Factory consists of these steps:

Implement the portlet functionality using WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer to model and profile the application. You can also create customized Configure and Edit functionality with WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer.
Run the WebSphere Portlet Factory deployment scripts to create a portlet WAR file.
Install the generated portlet WAR file using the WebSphere Portal Administration tools.

As you make changes to the portlet models, log out and log back in to the portal to see the effects of those changes on your portlets.
