Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2

Implementing portlet Configure and Edit modes

IBM® WebSphere® Portal administrators have the ability to set parameters for a portlet by configuring that portlet.

WebSphere Portal users may alter aspects of a portlet by editing that portlet. For portlets developed with IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory, the profiled builder call inputs, in conjunction with settings in the Portlet Adapter builder, determine the values exposed in these configure and edit modes of the portlet.

To expose profiled builder call inputs in the Configure and Edit modes of the portlet, you need to add a Portlet Adapter builder call to the WebSphere Portlet Factory model and declare how the associated profile sets are to be used in the Configure and Edit modes.

You can determine the look and feel of the Configure and Edit modes of the portlet by creating an alternate HTML page to use or create an separate model that implements the Configure or Edit functionality.

Note: Portlet configuration might not be available in a JSR 168 portal. Configuration is an optional feature in these portlets and its availability is determined by the portal administrator. If configuration capability is available in the portal, you can take advantage of it.
