Portlet Factory, Version 6.1.2

Quick Start: Your first widget with local deployment

This quick start guides you through the steps to create a widget.

You use IBM® WebSphere Portlet Factory to run, test, and publish the widget on a locally-installed IBM Lotus® Mashups server.

If you are unable to install a Lotus Mashups server on your local development machine, you can establish access to a remote installation of a Lotus Mashups server.

During the installation of WebSphere Portlet Factory, the procedure automatically detects if a Lotus Mashups server is installed. If a local mashups server is found, the installation procedure prompts you for a username and password for this server. You do not have to manually configure WebSphere Portlet Factory to enable automatic deployment of a widget package to the Lotus Mashups server. The installation creates deployment settings and when you create your first project, enables automatic deployment of your widgets.
