Verify Trust Association Interceptors

After configuring IBM WebSphere Portal to use an external security manager for authentication, you should verify that the Trust Association Interceptors (TAI) are working properly before continuing with any additional configuration tasks.

To verify that the Trust Association Interceptors are working properly:

  1. Enter the appropriate URL in the Web browser address bar:

    Option Description
IBM Tivoli Access Manager for e-business https://WebSEAL_hostname:WebSEAL_port/junction/wps/myportal
    Computer Associates eTrust SiteMinder http://SM_agent_hostname:SM_agent_port/wps/myportal

  2. Authenticate through the external security managers. After you log in, you should be directed to the secure and personalized myportal page. If you are directed to the login screen or the public page, there is a problem with the TAI configuration.

  3. If using Tivoli Access Manager perform the following steps to test the TAI by adding a new user:

    1. Enter the pdadmin> user create user_name user_dn cn sn pwd command from the pdadmin command line.

    2. Enter the pdadmin> user modify user_name account-valid yes command from the pdadmin command line.

    3. Make sure that WebSphere Portal is running, open your browser, and enter the following URL: https://WebSEAL_hostname/junction/wps/myportal.

    4. When prompted, enter the user ID and password that you created. You should be taken to a new authenticated user page as the specified user.
