Manage attributes

After installing IBM WebSphere Portal and configuring your LDAP user registry, you will need to manage the attributes between the two servers to ensure proper communication.

Perform the following tasks to manage attributes between WebSphere Portal and the LDAP server:

  1. Manage attributes
After installation, IBM WebSphere Portal has a predefined set of attributes for users and groups. Your LDAP server may have a different set of predefined user and group attributes. To ensure proper communication between WebSphere Portal and your LDAP server, you can configure additional attributes and flag existing attributes as required or unsupported on a per repository basis or for all configure repositories.

  2. Adding attributes
To ensure proper communication between IBM WebSphere Portal and your LDAP server, you may need to add new attributes to your configuration so that you can map the attributes between WebSphere Portal and your user registry.

  3. Mapping attributes
Flag attributes as unsupported or required and then map the required attributes between WebSphere Portal and the LDAP server.
