Administer security for the Web services gateway

The gateway provides facilities for secure communication between the service requester and the gateway, and between the gateway and the target service. To configure these facilities for each deployed Web service, see Enable Web Services Security (WS-Security) for the gateway.

The gateway provides basic authentication and authorization facilities based upon the broader security features of WAS. See Enable basic authentication and authorization for the gateway.

The gateway can also invoke Web services that include https:// in their addresses, if you have configured your Java and WAS security properties to allow it. To check your security property settings, see Invoke Web services over HTTPS.

In many installations, the gateway requires access to the Internet for invoking external Web services. To configure the gateway to work with authenticating proxies, see Enable proxy authentication for the gateway.
