Configure the installments engine
The installments engine is a runtime mechanism used to manage installment rules. It determines whether a product qualifies for an installment rule and calculates the installment price for the product based on the qualified installment payment option. It also determines the featured installment payment option for the product based on the installment payment option that has both the lowest interest rate and the highest number of installments.
The installments engine contains a number of configurable components which are specified in a configuration XML file. By editing the installments engine configuration XML file, you can change a variety of configuration settings for the installments engine.

You can specify a minimum installment payment amount that determines which installment payment options are displayed to customers at checkout. You can also configure the ratio that determines the dominant item in the shopping cart; the installment payment options of this item are applied to the entire shopping cart.
