Content versioning

A Site Administrator can change some of the configuration settings of the Content Versioning feature. For example, you can implicitly create versions of objects after you make changes to objects in workspaces.


Use Content Versioning in workspaces

You can create, restore, view, and delete versions of business objects within a workspace. Business objects can be active in multiple areas: workspaces or production-ready schema. With content versioning in place, object locking is no longer required between workspaces, as a user can create multiple versions of the object for use in the workspace. Furthermore, a workspace or task group can work on different copies of the object targeted to be completed in a different time frame or for different purposes; once completed, the workspace version of the object replaces the active object in the production ready schema.

When you push data from the authoring server to the production server, the stagingcopy utility automatically generates versions of the modified business objects. This ensures that a business user can rollback to a version that was previously available in the production environment.
