(troubleshooting)
Installation of Fix Pack 21 or Fix Pack 23 on WAS V6.0.2 may indicate a prerequisite failure if WebSphere Commerce V6.0 has been installed.
Problem(Abstract)
A prerequisite failure may be indicated when using the V6.1.0.9, V6.1.0.11 or V6.1.0.13 Update Installer to install Fix Pack 21 or Fix Pack 23 on V6.0.2 WAS where V6.0 IBM WebSphere Commerce has been installed as well.
Symptom When installing WAS V6.0.2, Fix Pack 21 or Fix Pack 23, using UpdateInstaller V6.1.0.9, V6.1.0.11 or V6.1.0.13, in an environment with WebSphere Commerce V6.0, the following prerequisites message may appear:
(29-Oct-2007 10:25:46), Install, com.ibm.ws.install.ismp.actions.
PrereqCheckingAction, msg1, Prerequisite checking has failed on FP60223.
Failure messages are:
The following directories are not empty: /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/classes
You should clean up or move these directories before the installation.
Prerequisite checking has failed on WASJAVASDKFP60223. Failure messages
are:
The following directories are not empty: /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/classes
You should clean up or move these directories before the installation. Cause The prerequisite checking message is telling users that any classes under <WAS_HOME>/classes will over-write the ones under <WAS_HOME>/lib. The check was added to WAS beginning with Fix Pack 21 in V6.0.2.x (x >= 21). This is a warning message, meaning the user can click "Next" on the warning panel and continue with the update. Resolving the problem There are several workarounds to resolve the message appearing in the log file. Workarounds 1 and 2 are the preferred. The workarounds are as follows:

  1. The warning message will not show up if the V6.0.2.7 UpdateInstaller is used to install the WAS Fix Pack 21 or higher in 6.0.2.x (x >= 21).

  2. User can click "Next" on the warning message panel to continue (so it is not blocking) when using the V6.1.0.9 or higher UpdateInstaller.

  3. User can skip all the warning messages (including this one) by launching the V6.1.0 x (x>=09) UpdateInstaller with the following option:

update.sh/bat -OPT disableNonBlockingPrereqChecking=True

This applies to GUI and silent installation using V6.1 UpdateInstaller.

Currently this non-blocking prerequisites checking also includes OS prerequisite checking. If the option above is used, then the OS prerequisite checking will be skipped.
