Process: Perform disposition
Flow
Objective
Decide on and record the disposition of returned goods.
Description
Dispositioning goods involves examining the returned items and assessing whether or not they will be accepted and returned to inventory.
Input to the process includes the goods being returned, the associated return merchandise authorization (RMA), and the printed RMA. The receiver will examine the goods and decide whether or not they should be restocked. If the goods should not be restocked, the goods are given a disposition of bad and they are redirected to the appropriate place through an external task. If the goods should be restocked, they are given a disposition of good. Next, they are restocked using an external task and an adjustment is made to increase the level of the items in stock. An adjustment code indicating that the adjustment is the result of a return is used. The output of the process includes restocked goods with the associated inventory adjustment and inventory receipt update or redirected goods marked bad.
