Enable outbound e-mail notification messages
E-mail messages can be configured in the Administration Console.
- Open the Administration Console and select Site on the Administration Console Site/Store Selection page.
- From the Configuration menu, select Message Types. The Message Type Configuration page displays.
- Click New. The Message Transport Assignment page opens.
- On the Message Type drop-down list select the appropriate type from the list of Outbound messages. For example, enable the following subset of messages:
- Notification message for an authorized order.
- Notification message for a canceled order.
- Notification message for password reset.
- Notification message to the customer of an order release manifestation.
- Notification message for a received order.
- Notification message for a changed order.
- A broadcast message.
- On the Message Severity field specify 0 0.
- From the Transport drop-down list, select E-mail.
- From the Device Format drop-down list, select Standard Device Format.
- Optional, to archive sent messages check .
- Click Next. The Message Transport Assignment parameter page displays.
- In the Host field, type the fully qualified name of your mail server.
- In the Protocol field, type smtp.
- In the Port field, type the port number of the host. For example, 25.
- In the Send Partial field specify a value:
- True
- The e-mail will be sent to valid addresses in the Recipient field, even if the SMTP server detected a problem with one or more addresses.
- False
- The e-mail will not be sent until all errors detected by the SMTP server are resolved. If member IDs, are included on the target recipient list only those members that have a primary e-mail address will be included.
- In the Retry Duration field, type the time in hours within which WebSphere Commerce can try to reconnect to a SMTP host when the server is down.
- In the User Name field, type the user name to logon to the SMTP server.
Once the user name is specified, the secure connection to the SMTP server is required.
- In the Password field, type the assigned password to authenticate SMTP server usage.
- In the Recipient field, specify the e-mail addresses to which message is being sent. If multiple recipients are specified, separate recipient names with commas.
- In the CC field, type in the e-mail addresses that you want copies of the message sent to.
- In the BCC field, type in the e-mail addresses that you want private copies of the message sent to.
- In the Sender field, specify the sender of the message. This text appears in the Sender field of the e-mail message.
- In the Subject field, specify the subject of the message. This text appears in the Subject field of the e-mail message. You can specify one subject per locale.
- In the Reply To field, type in the e-mail address all replies should be sent to.
- Click Finish.
