Assign the error condition message type to the e-mail transport

Ensure that error messages are assigned to the site, not individual stores.

To assign the error condition message type to a transport method:

  1. Open the Administration Console and select Site on the Administration Console Site/Store Selection page.

  2. From the Configuration menu, select Message Types. The Message Type Configuration page displays.

  3. Click New. The Message Transport Assignment page opens.

    1. On the Message Type drop-down list select Description of an Error Condition occurring in WebSphere Commerce.

    2. On the Message Severity field specify 0 0.

    3. From the Transport drop-down list, select E-mail.

    4. From the Device Format drop-down list, select Standard Device Format.

  4. Click Next. The Message Transport Assignment parameter page displays.

    1. On the Host field, type the fully qualified name of your mail server. This is a mandatory field.

    2. On the Protocol field, type smtp.

    3. In the Port field, type in the port number of the host. For example, 25.

    4. In the User Name field, type the user name to logon to the SMTP server. In the Password field, type the assigned password to authenticate SMTP server usage. Different message type can use different user name and password combinations. Once the username is specified, a secure connection to the SMTP server must be required. These fields are optional.

    5. In the Send Partial field, type in "true" to send an e-mail to valid addresses in the Recipient field, even if there are invalid addresses in the same field. Type in "false" to send the e-mail only if all addresses are valid.

    6. In the Retry Duration field, type in the time duration (in hours) in which WebSphere can try to reconnect to a SMTP host when the server is down.

    7. On the Recipient field, specify the administrator e-mail address who should receive error notification messages. If multiple recipients are specified, separate recipient addresses with commas.

    8. On the Sender field, specify the sender e-mail address of the message. This text appears in the Sender field of the e-mail message. This field is mandatory.

    9. On the Subject field, specify the subject of the message. This text appears in the Subject field of the e-mail message. You can specify one subject per locale.

    10. In the CC field, type in the e-mail addresses that you want copies of the message sent to.

    11. In the BCC field, type in the e-mail addresses that you want private copies of the message sent to.

    12. In the Reply To field, type in the e-mail address all replies should be sent to.

  5. Click Finish.
