Profiles are sets of files that define the runtime environment. At least one profile must exist to run WAS ND.

We create additional profiles beyond the default generated during installation using Profile Management Tool or manageprofiles.

We cannot use the Profile Management Tool to create profiles for WAS installations on 64-bit architectures except on the Linux for zSeries platform. However, we can use the Profile Management Tool on other 64–bit architectures if we use a WAS 32–bit installation.

Non-root users can create their own profiles for their appservers.

We can delete profiles through the manageprofiles command.
