To use the Search and Browse portlet for remote search, configure a copy of that portlet to the target search collection. The parameters for remote search must match the search service under which that search collection runs.

  • Configure the remote search parameters PSE_TYPE and either SOAP_URL, or EJB and IIOP_URL to the same values as you set them for the remote search service.

  • Set the CollectionLocation parameter of the Search and Browse portlet to the collection location of the search collection which users will search by that Search and Browse. We can look up the collection location by clicking...

    Launch | Main Menu | Administration | Search Administration | Manage Search | Search Collections | collection_name

The location of the search collection is shown under the Search collection status information.

Each Search and Browse portlet can be configured to use one search index and to search one search collection only. If you have more than one search collection built and maintained, create a new copy of the Search and Browse portlet for each additional collection, and update its configuration parameters accordingly. To copy a portlet, use the Manage Portlets portlet on the Portlets page under Portal administration.

If you migrate the Search and Browse portlet from one portal version to a later version, refer to Migrating the Search and Browse portlet between portal versions.
