Overview

For portal coexistence there are two possible scenarios...

  • Two instances of WAS each with their own WebSphere Portal profile.
  • One instance of WAS with two WebSphere Portal profiles.

The key is to make sure there are no port conflicts.

Note that installing additional copies of WebSphere Portal on the same machine will impact the performance, because all copies share the same system resources, such as processor capacity and memory.

Install the copies of WebSphere Portal

To install each copy of WebSphere Portal, do the following:

  1. Follow the instructions in Install WebSphere Portal, just as if you were only installing a single copy of WebSphere Portal.

  2. Verify that we can start and access the WAS administrative server (server1) and the Portal server (WebSphere_Portal).

  3. If you are unable to access either WebSphere Portal or the administrative server for WebSphere Application Server, refer to Troubleshooting to determine the cause of the problem and the steps required to correct it.
