Getting IBM Support Assistant

IBM® Support Assistant helps you find and use various IBM Support resources, such as updated documentation and problem determination tools.

 

About this task

IBM Support Assistant is available on the Installation and Migration Tools CD and on the IBM site at http://www.ibm.com/software/support/isa/. IBM Support Assistant offers the following components to help you with software questions:

 

Procedure

  1. Log into the administrative console and select Support from the top menu.

    This opens the product support page, from which we can download the IBM Support Assistant and access various IBM Web resources, such as IBM product sites, IBM support sites, and links to IBM news groups.

  2. Download the tool by selecting "Click here to download the IBM Support Assistant."

  3. Install the tool.

    Instructions can be found in the Installation_and_Troubleshooting_Guide.html file.

  4. Start the tool.

    Instructions can be found in the Installation_and_Troubleshooting_Guide.html file. IBM Support Assistant is a Web application that is launched separately from the administrative console application. On the Windows® platform, the IBM Support Assistant is contained within its own GUI. On all other platforms, it is displayed in a Web browser.
