Preparing SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 for installation

You must complete additional steps to prepare a SuSE Linux Enterprise Server V9 system for a WAS installation.

About this task

In addition to the common steps required for installing any Linux system, an additional step is required for SuSE Linux Enterprise Server Version 9.

SLES 9 SP1 is the officially supported platform for PowerPC 64-bit machines.

A known problem in the SLES 9 GA kernel (LTC 9288) is documented in the SDK guide for the 142SR1a release. The problem results in a 64-bit WebSphere Application Server hang indicated by the following error messages

Apply SLES 9 SP1 on PowerPC 64-bit platforms to avoid this problem.

 

Procedure

On SLES9/AMD64 systems, install the following 32-bit libraries are required by the SDK.
