JSR 168 Portlet API

Overview

JSR 168 is a specification from the Java Community Process that addresses the requirements of aggregation, personalization, presentation, and security for portlets running in a portal environment. The purpose of the JSR 168 specification is to solve the problem of portlet compatibility between portal servers offered by different vendors.

WebSphere Portal includes a portlet runtime environment that supports portlets developed according to the Java Portlet Specification defined by JSR 168, hereafter called JSR 168 compliant portlets. The portlet container for JSR 168 compliant portlets is based on Pluto (portals.apache.org/pluto/), which is the reference implementation for portlet containers supporting JSR 168.
